 There is just one suite of two bedrooms and a bathroom, so only one group of guests can be accommodated at a time - you will not have to share the house, large pool and grounds with other guests. There is a private room for breakfast, which you choose. Rooms are well furnished with antiques and style; the beds are new and comfortable. Parking is secure. The house is 100 years old, solidly built of stone in the local style, with ornate gables and roof tiles. There are paths in the wooded grounds with distant views. The pool is 11-metres long, with a pool-house, and is surrounded with decking and quality furniture. Guests have their own fridge-freezer in the pool-house.) The owners are a retired couple with two small dogs and a Burmese cat, who live on one side of the house - guest rooms are on the other side. The Villa des Roches overlooks Chissey en Morvan, a pretty village with a 12th century Chateau, an ancient and colourful post office and the river Termin. There is a restaurant in the village, a garage and a bar/shop which sells most things visitors need. The village is in the Parc du Morvan, which lies at the heart of Burgundy. This is a beautiful area of forests, hills, lakes and rivers which is still unspoilt by too many tourists. However there are a wide range of activities on offer to walkers, cyclists, water-sports lovers and wild-life enthusiasts, with over 3000 kms of marked trails plus country roads and some navigable rivers. There are some important sites to visit in and around the Morvan including Michelin-guide starred Autun (Roman town), Bibracte (pre-Roman town), Mont Beuvray (views of Mont Blanc) and Vezelay (the Basilique Ste-Madeleine, and its connections with the Third Crusade). Because Chissey en Morvan is at the geographical centre of Burgundy.
